Harriette B. Watson

November 3, 1947 — February 19, 2018

Harriette B. Watson, 70, of Coal Valley, Illinois, passed away Monday, February 19, 2018, at her home, surrounded by family.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with longtime friend Jay McCowan officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be made to Dalmatian Rescue of Colorado or JDRF Diabetes Foundation.

The former Harriette Beatrice Hurling was born November 3, 1947, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Andreas and Beatrice (Kall) Hurling. She married David Watson on December 21, 1964, in Rock Island. She retired from A.D. Huesing in Rock Island around 1995, after which she worked at Wal-Mart as a cashier.

She was a Girl Scout leader and an avid Elvis Presley fan and collector. She loved dogs in general, but was especially fond of Dalmatians, especially her dog, Lucky. She also enjoyed going to car shows with her family. Above all else, family was the most important thing to Harriette, especially her grandchildren.

Harriette is survived by her loving husband of over 53 years, Dave; a son, David Jr. (Melissa) Watson of Colona; a daughter, Theresa (Shannon Davis) Watson-Gray of Rock Island; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Kimberly (James Baker), and Dylan Watson, Autumn (Brett) Lohmann, Drake Gray, and Julie and Stephanie Williams; several great-grandchildren including Kihla Hooks and Dexter Baker; siblings, LeRoy Hurling of Silvis, and Shirley (Henry) Timbrook of Colona; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends of the family that considered Harriette "Mom". She was preceded in death by her parents; a son at birth, Robert Dean Watson; a nephews, Timmy Timbrook; and her uncle, Clarence "Tubby" Kall, who helped raise Harriette after her father passed away.
