Harold Leech

Moline, Illinois Harold A. "Hap" Leech, 83, of Moline, died Friday, August 20, 2004, in Parkview Health Care Center, East Moline. Memorial services are 11 a.m. Tuesday at Union Congregational Church, Moline. Private interment will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church's Building Fund. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family. Harold Anthony Leech was born April 28, 1921, in Mankato, Minnesota, the son of Irad L. and Clara Boos Leech. He married Lucille M. Bos on May 10, 1942, in Moline. He served in the U. S. Army during WW II. Hap was a Realtor Associate for 18 ½ years, retiring from Mel Foster Company in 1997. He previously was Manager of Patient Accounts at Franciscan Hospital, Credit Manager at St. Anthony's Hospital, and worked at Credit Bureau of the Quad Cities and J. I. Case Company. He was a 71-year member of Union Congregational Church, Moline, where he was Moderator and chaired the Building Fund Drives. He was a lifetime member and a member of the Board of Directors of Oakwood Country Club, Coal Valley, and had been a member of Moline Elks and Rock Island Exchange Club. He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed golf, bowling, fishing and hunting. He played football at Moline High School where he was Most Valuable Player in 1940, and St. Ambrose College, and then played semi-pro football for Moline Mohawks. Hap is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lucille; three children and spouses, Jeffrey J. and Sue Leech and Steven W. and Sharon Leech, all of Rock Island, and Teresa J. Dorethy of Moline; five grandchildren, Stacie DeVries, Becky Eastland, Katherine Leech, Thomas Leech, and Shane Leech; a great-grandchild, Allyssah Leech; a sister, Mildred Palmer of Moline; and brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Tharon Leech of Moline, and Herbert and Ruby Leech of Batesville, Arkansas; and Jean Leech of Coal Valley. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Calvin, Leonard and Gilbert Leech; and a brother-in-law, George Palmer.
