Aledo, Illinois Memorial Services for Harold L. Brown, 75, of Aledo will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at College Avenue Presbyterian Church. Burial with Military and Masonic Honors will be held at Viola Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:00 to 10:30 AM at the church. Memorials may be made to the College Avenue Presbyterian Church, American Heart Association or for Memorial Park in Aledo. Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo, is in charge of arrangements. Harold died Wednesday, November 21, 2001 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. Harold was born on September 22, 1926 in Keithsburg, Illinois to Walter R. and Jessie L. (Hayes) Brown. He married Kathryn Yarde on August 28, 1949 at the Viola Presbyterian Church. Harold served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He worked in maintenance for the Aledo School District Unit #201 from 1960 to 1989. Harold also worked for John Deere and farmed for Edwin Thornton. Harold was a member of the College Avenue Presbyterian Church; American Legion Post #121, Aledo; the Viola Masonic Lodge #577 AF & AM and was currently serving his second term on the Aledo City Council. He was instrumental in building Aledo Memorial Park . Harold enjoyed making flag poles, bird houses and squirrel feeders which gave him hours of nature watching. He was a devoted husband and father and adored his grandchildren. Harold is survived by his wife, Kathryn; 3 daughters and sons-in-law: Lisa and William Dameron of Burlington, IA; Diane and Mark Hilton of Peoria; Laurie and Kenneth Berthel of Aledo; 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sons: Mark Anthony Brown and Jackie Lee Brown and a sister, Betty Hennig.
