Dorothy S. Swift, 73, of Davenport, Iowa, died Saturday, May 7, 2011, in her home.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Christ Church Cathedral (Anglican), 1717 8th Avenue, Moline, with The Very Reverend Canon Edward A. den Blaauwen officiating. The family will greet friends at a luncheon at the church following the service. Memorials may be made to the Parish Nurse Program at the church. Burial will take place at St. Mary?s Cemetery in Champaign, Illinois. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.
The former Dorothy Jean Sullivan was born April 1, 1938, in Champaign, Illinois, the daughter of John E. (Jack) and Dorothy Miskell Sullivan. She attended the University of Illinois. She married George W. Swift on April 21, 1957, in Champaign; the couple later divorced. She was an instructor at the Handicapped Development Center in Davenport for more than 15 years.
She was a Master Gardener, a member of Kappa Delta sorority and past president of the Quad City Panhellenic Society, a founding member of the Quad City Ostomy Association, and a member of the CASI Choir in Davenport.
Dorothy is survived by two daughters, Jean Swift and her husband David Hamod of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Beth Reinhardt of Danbury, Connecticut; three grandsons, Evan Hamod and Dan and Jimmy Reinhardt; and siblings and their spouses, Kathleen and Richard Paul of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and John E. and Karen Sullivan of Champaign, Illinois.
