Warren H. Goode, 78, of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Pathway Hospice at Trinity, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials may be made to Pathway Hospice.
Warren Harold Goode was born September 11, 1931, in Blakesburg, Iowa, the son of Archie and Mary Johnston Goode. He married Vera Eakins on June 19, 1950, in Ottumwa, Iowa. He was employed by TWA Airlines and its predecessor, Ozark Airlines, for 37 years, retiring as supervisor in 1992. He farmed in earlier years.
He loved his family and friends, sports, especially the Cubs and the Illini, and his dog, Clyde. He enjoyed woodworking, boating, and skiing, and worked in the pit crew for motocross racing for ten years.
Warren is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Vera; three children and their spouses, Jim and Sharon Goode of New Windsor, Illinois, Bruce Goode of Gilroy, California; and Sharon and Tom Peters of Coal Valley; seven grandchildren and their spouses, Seth and Stephanie Goode, Christina and Mike Marxen, Jessica and Jeremy Whisman, Devin Goode, Nick Kofski, Jennifer Peters, and Abby Peters; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Marilyn Hopkins of Oklahoma; and a brother, Wayne Goode of Iowa City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Kenneth and Wendell Goode.
