H. Donald "Don" White

Hugh Donald White, 100, life-long resident of Coal Valley, Illinois, died Saturday, November 25, 2017, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.

Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, with The Rev. Tim Snart officiating. Burial is in Glenwood Cemetery, Orion, where Moline American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. A Masonic service under the direction of Eureka Lodge #69, Milan, will be held at 4 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral Home, 1700 1st Street, Coal Valley, with visitation following until 7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the church.

Don was born March 13, 1917, on his family farm in rural Coal Valley in Henry County, to John Edward and Alda Hanson White. He married Martha Litchfield on January 17, 1942, in Coal Valley. She died October 30, 2012. He served in the US Navy during WW II. He was a welding supervisor at International Harvester East Moline Works for 35 years, retiring in 1974. Don was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, where he had been an elder, treasurer, and taught Sunday school. He was a former member of the Coal Valley Township Board, and former tax assessor for Coal Valley Township. He was past master of Valley Lodge #547, AF & AM, and a current member of Eureka Lodge #69, AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline, and Moline American Legion Post #246. He was instrumental in bringing Dad's Club Baseball to Coal Valley where he coached for several years, was a former Scout Master, and belonged to the Isaac Walton League. Don held a life-long devotion to his family, loved all things outdoors, enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling, and bowled with the church bowling league for 20 years.

Don is survived by three children and spouse, Bruce and Jodie White of Milan, Cheryl and Roberto Alleruzzo of Coal Valley, and Richard and Cindy White of Troy, Illinois; nine grandchildren and spouses, Teresa and Steve Bradley, Lisa and Jason Durbin, Shaylyn White and her fiancée Andrew Stewart, Terry and Chelle White, Troy and Valerie White, Todd and Chrystal White, Cristoforo and Becky Alleruzzo, Andrew White, and Adamo and Sara Alleruzzo; 15 great-grandchildren, John, Sam, and Joshua Bradley, Samantha and Joshua Durbin, Brady and Kristina White, Gavyn and Elethia White, Kylee and Mason White, Nico and Giovanni Alleruzzo, and Sofia and Finn Alleruzzo, and a sister-in-law, Shirley Harrison of Albany, Oregon. He was preceded in death by his wife, and seven siblings and their spouses.
