Gordon H. ?Abe? Wilson, 88, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 10:00 a.m. until service time. Memorials may be to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Gordon Herbert Wilson was born August 28, 1924, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Fred and Anna (Tilburg) Wilson. He married Emily Ade on November 18, 1950, in Moline. She died July 27, 2003. He served in the United States Navy during World War II.
Abe worked at Alcoa as a overhead crane operator for 35 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a member of the Moline VFW Post No. 2056, the Moline Senior Center, a former member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Moline, and active in the Second Winders at Edgewood Baptist Church, Rock Island. He was a talented actor and singer, leading the chorus for the Moline Activity Center, performing for various community theaters including Music Guild and the Barn Theater, and had the leading role in the movie ?Meeting at Twin Forks?, which was filmed in the Quad Cities.
Gordon is survived by his special friend and loving companion, Anna Mae Hedger of Moline, and her children, Michelle (Oscar) Gomez of Moline, Monty (Dawn) Patton of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Anna Mae?s 11 great-grandchildren; children, Anna (Joe) Meza of Alhambra, California, Clark Wilson of Los Angeles, California, Laurie (Dennis) Neal of Rock Hills, South Carolina, and Linda (Randy) Bullock of Moline; a foster-daughter, Patricia Parcell of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a brother, Fred (Beverly) Wilson, Jr. of Rock Island, Illinois. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jeanne Deeters.
