Gladys R. Anderson

Gladys R. Anderson, 91, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at First United Presbyterian Church, Moline, with The Reverend Gregory Graybill officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.

The former Gladys May Rowe was born August 24, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of Lysle V. and Annie (Bowie) Rowe. She married Robert B. Anderson on October 1, 1949, in Des Moines. He died March 25, 1970.

She worked as an operator for AT&T for 22 years, retiring on July 10, 1983.

Gladys was an active member of First United Presbyterian Church, Moline, serving on the Mission Committee, as a Sunday School teacher, youth and nursery worker, and Bible Study Fellowship. She was also a member of Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and bible study.

She is survived by four sons and their wives, Robert and Sue Anderson of Milan, Illinois, Kim and Diane Anderson of Hampton, Illinois, Wilson and Nanette Anderson of Taylor Ridge, Illinois, and David Anderson of East Moline; grandchildren, Jason and Jessica Anderson of Bartonville, Illinois, Michelle and Matthew Wright of Elon, North Carolina, Christopher and Jennifer Anderson of Sterling, Virginia, Kimberly and Joshua Wilbanks of Decatur, Alabama, and Samantha Anderson of Davenport, Iowa; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Anderson, and three brothers, Vernon, Esla, and Eugene Rowe.
