Gilbert A. Huber

Gilbert A. Huber, 74, of Moline, Illinois, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 17, 2016, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island.

Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Memorials may be made to the Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

Graveside services are 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2016, at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at Trimble Funeral Home at 9:45 a.m.

He was born October 6, 1942, in Hillsboro, Illinois, the son of Carl Gilbert and Kathleen (Slagel) Huber. He married Carol Hull on December 24, 1986, in Rock Island. He had previously been married to Patricia Young.

Gil served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then served in the Army National Guard in Galva, and in the Army Reserves in Rock Island and Davenport. He was honored recently to travel with the Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

He was a machinist for the Rock Island Arsenal, where he also was a reserve police officer. He also worked security several places including Stateville Penitentiary and 17 years at the iWireless Center.

He enjoyed genealogy and working with computers, was a member of the Honda Goldwing Club, and loved his many dogs and cats over the years.

Gil is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Deborah Huber of Clinton, Iowa, Jennifer (Steven) Meana of Moline, and Jay (Carolyn) Huber of Elgin, Illinois; step-children, Kathleen (Jeffrey) Brands of Moline, Brenda (John) Nelson of Pataskala, Ohio, and Jeremy Hull of Moline; 5 grandchildren; 8 step-grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen (Ron) Masanz of Neenah, Wisconsin, and a brother, Steven (Phyllis) Huber of Rock Island. He was preceded in death by his parents.
