Gertrude R. ?Trudy? Sievers, 92, of Rock Island, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 9, 2005, in Silver Cross Nursing Center, Rock Island.
Services celebrating a life well-lived are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan, with The Reverend Lester Dumer officiating. Burial is in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, is in charge of arrangements.
Gertrude Ruth Sievers was born August 11, 1912, in Milan, Illinois, the daughter of John and Mary (Stadler) Sievers. She retired from the Deere and Company?s Advertising Department in 1977, and previously worked at the former New York Store in Moline for 10 years.
Her life was devoted to her church. She was a Charter Member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Milan, and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Coal Valley. She taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for over 45 years, was Sunday school secretary for 10 years, was president of Young at Heart Senior Group, served in several offices of Lutheran Women?s Missionary League, and served on many Evangelism committees and other groups. She belonged to Federated Women?s Club of the Quad Cities and various card clubs and bowling leagues, and enjoyed needlework, reading, and driving trips with family and friends.
Trudy is survived by a sister-in-law, Madeline Sievers of Milan; and fifteen nieces and nephews and their families, John Schroeder, Paul Schroeder, Marian Hoffman, Richard Sievers, Janet Schrage, Grace Marie Hepner, Marjorie Baker, Darlene Schmidt, Dan Kraklow, Allen Kraklow, Duane Kraklow, Jean Miles, Martha Rittmueller, Frank Sievers, Jr., and Martin Sievers. She was preceded ind eath bis three sisters and six brothers.
