The Reverend George W. Loveland, 67, of Port Byron, Illinois, an Ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church and retired minister, died Sunday, June 10, 2012, in Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Illinois.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Metropolitan Community Church, 3019 North Harrison, Davenport, Iowa 52803, with The Reverend Rich Hendricks officiating. Private burial is in Edgar Cemetery, Paris, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the church, where he was a member. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is entrusted with arrangements.
George William Loveland was born October 7, 1944, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Clarence Howard and Bonnie Bell Loveland. He graduated from Crawfordsville, Indiana, High School, and Manchester College, North Manchester, Indiana, and received his Masters of Divinity Degree from The Iliff School of Theology, Denver Colorado.
He was an ordained elder in the Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church, for 40 years, serving churches in Paris, Moline First, Charleston, Springfield, Decatur, and retired from Moline Bethel Wesley in 2006.
George is survived by close friends, Patrick W. Palmer of Port Byron, and Charles L. Redeker of Chicago. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Lois A. Loveland and N. Jean Loveland, and a brother, C. Howard Loveland.
