Moline, Illinois George F. Palmer, 82, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, September 15, 2002, in Illini Restorative Care, Silvis, Illinois. Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, 601 21st Street, Moline. The Reverend Jack Michaelsen will officiate. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the New Building Fund at Union Congregational Church, Moline. George Frederick Palmer was born March 3, 1920, in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Joseph A. and Hannah Bayes Palmer. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps as a radio technician and instructor during WW II. He married Mildred Leech on April 1, 1950, in Morrison, Illinois. Following the war, George was an electrician until becoming president and co-owner of Tri-City Electric Company, Davenport, in 1954. He was sole owner of the company from 1972 until his retirement in 1985. He was a 57-year member of Rantoul Lodge #470, AF & AM, Rantoul, Illinois; a life-member of Oakwood Country Club; past president of Quad City National Electrical Contractors Association; and a member of Union Congregational Church, Moline, and Davenport Rotary Club. He operated amateur radio station K9RVE. He enjoyed golf, traveling, working in his yard, and spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors. George is survived by his wife of 52 years, Millie; a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sheri Palmer of Moline; a daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Larry DeVolder of Orion, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Doug, Jeff, Ben, Ryan and Andrew Palmer, Amy and Kevin DeVolder, and Kate Stamer; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Palmer and Clara Stamer; and two brothers and a sisiter-in-law, Joseph Palmer of Moline, and David and Jo Palmer of Danville, Virginia.
