Moline, Illinois Services for Fred J. McKinney, 81, of Moline, are 9:30 a.m. Monday at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline, and 10 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. The Reverends Robert Lee and Daniel Mirabelli will officiate. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Trimble Funeral Home where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Alleman High School. Mr. McKinney died Wednesday, May 9, 2001, in Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. He was born March 8, 1920, in Fair Play, Missouri, the son of Garland and Fannie Mae (Mallory) McKinney. He married Marcella Tagge on October 15, 1949, in Moline. She died January 31, 1998. He was an Electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of the Alleman Booster Club for 45 years, and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and Citizens to Preserve Blackhawk State Park. His children and grandchildren were the love of his life, and he enjoyed money and investing, and all sports, both as a spectator and a volunteer worker. In his younger years, he played semi-pro football with the Mohawks. Fred is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcia and Robert Lintz of East Moline, and Michelle and Walter Robertson of Magazine, Arkansas; a son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd "Buddy" and Patty McKinney of Acampo, California; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Jonathan and Jami Lintz, Sara Lintz, Candace and Scott Avey, Sabrina and Todd Shafter, Melanie McKinney, Connie Fink, Brian and Moriah Robertson, and Aaron and Sandy Robertson; sisters, Geneva Anderson of Colona, and Evelyn Garvey of East Moline; and a brother and sister-in-law, Harold and Maryann McKinney of Rock Island.
