Frances M. Hammer, 86, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 31, 2013, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, Illinois.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Gay Behrensmeyer officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services.

The former Frances Mae Roehrig was born June 17, 1927, in Aurora, Illinois, the daughter of Carl and Mae (Ruther) Roehrig. She married Edward Hammer on February 14, 1975, in Davenport, Iowa.

Fran worked for the former Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island, retiring in 2007. Prior to that, she worked for Good Samaritan Home in Davenport and Trinity Home Care as a CNA.

She was a member of Broadway Presbyterian Church, Rock Island. She enjoyed sewing and cooking.

Fran is survived by her husband, Ed, of Rock Island; children, Sharon Gari of Morris, Illinois, Robert (Sandy) Whiten of Estill Springs, Tennessee, Richard Leppert of Rock Island, Sandy Klinkner of Rock Island, and Mike (Martha) Klinkner of Davenport; step-children, Michael Hammer of Moline, and John Luther Hammer of Manheim, Germany; ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Roehrig.
