F. David Millett, Jr., 84, former Moline Police Chief, died Thursday, January 8, 2015, at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Gregory Graybill officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the American Legion Post #246 will present military honors. Visitation is 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with a masonic service at 6:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities or to Shriners Hospital for Children, Chicago.

Dave was born September 4, 1930, at home in East Moline, to Forrest D. & Sylvia M. (Montroy) Millett. He graduated from East Moline High School in 1948, and went directly into the U.S. Marine Corps, serving four years. He was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant.

He married Alice Bjorkman on May 16, 1954, in Aledo, Illinois. She died June 21, 2006. He was a member of the Moline Police Department for 28 years, originally retiring as Captain, later returning as Police Chief, with final retirement in 1992.

Dave was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Moline, Doric Lodge #319, AF & AM for 46 years, and also the Kaaba Shrine, Scottish Rite Bodies -Valley of Moline, American Legion Post #246, and various police organizations. He volunteered at the John Deere Classic for several years, went on the Honor Flight in 2012, and enjoyed golf, reading, and crossword puzzles.

He is survived by his fiancé, Betty Miller of Illinois City, Illinois; daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Les Fuller of Moline, and Sally and John Dowsett of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandchildren, Seth and Alissa Dowsett. He was preceded in death by his wife, and a brother, Harold Millett.
