Coal Valley, Illinois Services for Eunice Stone DeShane, 88, of Coal Valley, are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley. Burial is in Glenwood Cemetery, rural Coal Valley. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association for research. Mrs. DeShane died Sunday, July 4, 2004, in her home. The former Eunice Gertrude Stone was born February 14, 1916, in her parent's home in Moline, the daughter of Milton and Laura (Davis) Stone. She married Harry Horrell DeShane on February 3, 1936, in Rock Island. He died November 18, 1989. She loved horses and was a member of the Horseman's Club. She loved to write and had stories published in two different books. She loved nature and everything to do with the outdoors, including flowers, rocks, plants and trees. She was a real artist and designed the inside cover of her high school yearbook. She enjoyed soap carving, wood carving, calligraphy, nature photography, Fannie Mae Candy, and cola. Eunice is survived by six children and their spouses, Paul and Barb DeShane of Viola, Leon and Velma DeShane of Unionville, MO, Dallas and Roxie DeShane of Orion, Dawn and John Turkal of Rapids City, Milton and Brenda DeShane of Moline, and Daniel and Sherry DeShane of Coal Valley; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; brothers, Eldon Stone of Springfield, MO, and Charles Stone of Davenport; and sisters, Nina Cowan of Rock Island, and Shirley Schatteman of East Moline.
