Silvis, Illinois Services for Ethel L. Glendon, 79, of Silvis, are 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. The Rev. Dr. J. Keith Zimmerman will officiate. Burial is in National Cemetery on the Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline, where she was a member, or a favorite charity. Mrs. Glendon died Monday, June 11, 2001, in Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. The former Ethel LaVerne Hunter was born December 16, 1921, in East Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Asbury and Rebecca (Little) Hunter. She married John A. Glendon on September 14, 1943, in Oceanside, California. He died November 3, 1999. She was employed as a secretary at Rock Island County Housing Authority for five years, and previously worked at Moline Forge. Her life revolved around her family and friends. Ethel is survived by four children and their spouses, Jeffrey and Linda Glendon of Jefferson, Wisconsin, Diane and Wes Rineck of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, Deborah and Steve Runde of East Moline, and Jon H. Glendon of Silvis; five grandchildren, Melissa Glendon, Rebecca Glendon, Ashley Rineck, Lauren Rineck, and John Rineck; a sister, Dorothy Carpentier of East Moline; and a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Bernita Hunter of Moline.
