Charles W. Litchfield, 82, of Silvis, Illinois, formerly of Coal Valley, Moline, and Morrison, Illinois, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 11, 2011, from Illini Restorative Care, Silvis.
Services are 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, 1700 1st Street, Coal Valley, Illinois, with Rev. Jeff McIlrath officiating. Burial is in Beulah Cemetery, Orion, Illinois. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, Illinois.
Charles William Litchfield was born February 18, 1929, in Sherrard, Illinois, the son of Rev. Clarence Arthur and Ora Willetta (Hafner) Litchfield. He graduated from Coal Valley High School in 1948. He married Alice Adele Aronzon in 1950, in Moline. She died September 16, 1993. He married Paula Edith Jones Kent in 1994, in Morrison, Illinois. She died April 17, 2000. He was a pipefitter in the Facility Engineering Office at the Rock Island Arsenal for 35 years, retiring in 1984.
Charles was a current member of Emmanuel Reformed Church, Morrison, and a former member of First Church of Christ Scientist, Moline, and First Presbyterian Church, Coal Valley, and the Rock Island Arsenal Golf Club. He frequented the Golden Meal senior dinner site in Morrison, and had been active in local barbershop quartets and bowling leagues. He loved music, and enjoyed traveling, golf, and sports.
Charles is survived by a granddaughter, Kathrina S. Litchfield and her fiancé Aaron Walker of North Liberty, Iowa; two grandsons, Eban and Charlie Senft; sisters, Martha White and her husband Don of Coal Valley, and Shirley Harrison of Albany, Oregon; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Litchfield of Targu Mures, Romania; and several nieces and nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his wives; a son, Edward Litchfield; a daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Squires Litchfield; brothers, Russell and Eugene Litchfield; and a brother-in-law, David Harrison.
Charles family extends appreciation to the staffs at Crosstown Square and Illini Restorative Care for their kind and compassionate care, and special thanks to his aide, Pam, for her friendship to Charles.
