Mary Ellen Boyer, 91, of Moline, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, in Pathway Hospice at Trinity at Terrace Park Medical Center, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline, with the Reverend Kenneth Harris officiating. Visitation is 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial is at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Memorials may be made to the church.
The former Mary Ellen Wright was born February 26, 1916, in Keota, Iowa, the daughter of Frank and Flosse (Wilcox) Wright. She married Walter Boyer in 1939, in Clinton, Iowa. He died November 9, 1990.
She worked as a secretary for the Moline School District #40 for 23 years, retiring in 1976.
Mary Ellen was involved in many organizations, including the Triple C Circle of King?s Daughters, PTA, Illinois Association of Educational Secreteries, and Trinity Hospital Auxiliary. She was very active in Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, serving as chair for the Parsonage Committee, Prayer Chain Coordinator, Funeral Luncheon Coordinator, and a member of the Pastor/Parish Relations Committee and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, and spending time with her many close friends.
Mary Ellen is survived by two sons, David A. Boyer and his partner, Sara Shute of Belfast, Maine, and Dr. John M. Boyer and his wife, Janice, of Portland, Oregon, sister, Betty Graen, a grandson and his wife, Scott and Beth Boyer of Yarmouth, Maine, great-grandchildren, Patrick and Emily Boyer, nieces Barbara Hansen and Charlotte Boyer, and nephews, Jeff and Dean Graen. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Francis and William Wright, and a sister, Madelyn.
