Elinor Blackman, 96, of Naperville, Illinois, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, Dubuque, Iowa and Glendale, Arizona, died Monday, October 11, 2010, in Tabor Hill Care Center, Naperville, where she had resided for six years.
Services are 2 p.m. Saturday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, 601 21st Street, Moline, Illinois, with The Reverend Joseph Robb officiating. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
The former Elinor Marie Bergstrom was born March 3, 1914, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Gustav and Martha Johnson Bergstrom. She married Wilbert H. Blackman on May 5, 1934, in Rock Island. He died July 31, 1990. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Rock Island, Illinois.
Elinor is survived by a son, James Ray Blackman of Sun City West, Arizona; a daughter, Sandra Marie Denklau and her husband Arthur of Plainfield, Illinois; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jeanne and Rob Primmer, Jeffrey and Marguerite Blackman, John and Leigha Blackman, Gary and Laura Denklau, Michael and Andrea Denklau, and Thomas and Jamie Denklau; 14 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; two nieces, Julie Bergstrom Rohr, and Margie Nystrom Cass, and nephew, Thomas Nystrom. She was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Marilyn Nystrom, and a brother, Ralph Bergstrom.
