Eleanor J. Hayward, 88, formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Golden Living Center-Continental Manor, Abbotsford, Wisconsin.
Services are 12:00 Noon Saturday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Randy Pospisil officiating. Burial is Monday morning at Rock Island National Cemetery. Those wishing to attend should meet at the funeral home before 9:30 a.m. Monday. Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the family will be given to Alzheimer?s research.
The former Eleanor Goughnour was born March 18, 1925, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Frank and Pearl Woods Goughnour. She graduated from White Oak Consolidated School, Cambridge, Iowa, and Des Moines Secretarial School, Des Moines, Iowa. She married Bill D. Hayward on June 12, 1949, in Des Moines. He died December 18, 1997.
After her education, she worked as a secretary at Ginsberg of Des Moines, Iowa. After their marriage, they moved to Bettendorf, Iowa, where she worked as a secretary for John Deere Plow-Planter Works in Moline, for a period of years. She spent most of her time as a housewife and mother, while also clerking at Yonkers in Bettendorf and Moline part time. She moved to Medford in 2005, to be close to her family. She enjoyed taking care of her home, her family and her church activities.
Eleanor is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Dawn and Jeff Lemmenes of Medford; a granddaughter, Katelyn Lemmenes of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and a sister, Laura Ihrig of Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Galen Goughnour; and sisters, Myrtle Gliem, Mary Tiffany, and Lova Thornburg.
