Ed worked in sales for Quaker Oats for 28 years, Hormel Foods for 5 years, and Hershey for 11 ½ years, retiring at the age of 78.

Ed enjoyed traveling with his wife as she judged dog shows. The couple visited a total of 27 countries, but his favorite destination was Hawaii, where the couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with the entire family. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
