Paul E. ?Ed? Shallean, 75, of Moline, Illinois, died Sunday, October 11, 2009, in Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, Illinois.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 17, 2009, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Mark Gehrke officiating. Entombment is in Moline Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation is one hour before the services. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, or Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.
Paul Edward Shallean was born March 22, 1934, in Tiskilwa, Illinois, the son of Paul Frank Arthur and Evelyn Janette James Shallean. He married Helena Wanita Wertz on August 21, 1955, in Princeton, Illinois. He was a tool designer for Caterpillar for 23 years, retiring in 1989. He previously was a telegraph operator for the Rock Island Railroad. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, where he served on the Property Committee. He enjoyed woodworking, bowling, and gardening.
Ed is survived by his wife of 54 years, Helena; two children and their spouses, Brenda and Kenneth Chacon of Buffalo, Iowa, and Jim and Sally Shallean of Davenport, Iowa; two grandsons and their friends, Max Chacon and Haley Thiessen of Buffalo, and Alexander Chacon and Denae Scott of Davenport; two great-grandchildren, Walker McGrew and Araylia Chacon; and his sister, Jean Sapp of Mount Dora, Florida.
