Edward E. Hammer

Edward E. Hammer Jr., 78, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Saturday, April 6, 2019, at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline. Memorials may be made to the family.

Ed was born June 13, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa, to Edward Sr. and Alfreda Hammer. He married Frances Roehrig on February 14, 1975, and she died December 31, 2013. Previously, he had been married to Geraldine Dent, with whom he had two children. He served in the U.S. Navy for 16 years before becoming an electrician on the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring in 1996.

He enjoyed anything "cowboy", collecting coins, and spending time at the Maid-Rite.

Ed is survived by two sons, Michael Hammer of Rock Island, and John Hammer of Germany, and two grandchildren.
