Ruth Kouski, 90, of East Moline, died Monday, June 23, 2008, at Iowa Masonic Health Facility, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Thursday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. The Reverend Don Reffett will officiate. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to First Christian Church, Moline.
The former Ruth Ellen Farris was born June 15, 1918, in McDonough County, Illinois, the daughter of William and Ellen (Perry) Farris. She married Louis Kouski on September 23, 1950, in Blandinsville, Illinois. He died March 15, 1974. Their home was in Coal Valley, where they lived until she moved to East Moline in 1975.
She worked as a secretary before her marriage, as a bookkeeper for Kouski & Stout Sand and Gravel, Coal Valley, and she and her husband operated Pine Acres Christmas Trees at their home in Coal Valley for many years until after his death.
Ruth was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, a past matron of Valley Chapter #274, and later a member of Rose Chapter #626. She served as a Grand Officer, OES, State of Illinois in 1992 and traveled throughout the state. She was also a member of the Hilltoppers social club, the East Moline Women?s Club ?500? card marathon, the Ridgewood Tower Social Club, and enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her friends.
She is survived by step-granddaughters, Tammy Keith of Colona, Illinois, and Robin Munoz of Silvis, Illinois, nieces and nephews, Gary Beck of Macomb, Illinois, Ronald Beck of Mooresville, North Carolina, Allen Farris of Indianola, Iowa, Scott Martin of Golden, Colorado, Karen Roberts of Burlington, Iowa, Lynne Anne Ward of Blandinsville, Illinois, and Roy Kouski of Port Byron, Illinois, and a special friend, Aimee Anderson of Bettendorf, Iowa. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Martin and Helen Vail, and a brother, Lloyd Farris.
