Richard E. "Dick" Dennhardt, 93, of Coal Valley, was received into the arms of the Lord at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, on Sunday, May 20, 2007. Richard was surrounded by his loving family and fortified by the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick.

Rite of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 9:00 AM at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, Coal Valley, with Father Ray Guthrie officiating. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with a rosary recited at 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in the form of masses for Richard or for the Coal Valley EMT.

Dick was born on February 28, 1914, to Ernest C. and Augusta (Miller) Dennhardt. He was united in marriage to Lucille "Babe" Donder on November 2, 1935, in Peoria, Illinois. Dick was employed by the former C.R.I. & P. Railroad, Silvis, for 33 years, retiring in 1963. He also farmed in the Cleveland, Barstow and Illinois City areas, retiring in 2002.

Dick is survived by his wife of 71 ½ years, Lucille; sons, Ronald (Janie) of Moline and Richard L. (Ann) of Orion; daughters, Barbara (Jack) Merrill of Carbon Cliff and Nancy Hunt of East Moline; 11 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Lloyd; 2 half-brothers, Ernest L. and Jerry L. and a half-sister, Doris McDole. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Belle; sister, Irene; brother, Alton; half-brother, Duane; a son-in-law, James L. Hunt and a great-grandson, Morgan Harl.
