Mary E. Colburn, 92, of Moline, Illinois, died Wednesday, January 17, 2007, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, Moline, with The Reverend Dan Cole, Pastor, and The Reverend Tim Carr officiating. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Burial will be Monday morning in Rock Island National Cemetery on Arsenal Island. Friends are invited to meet at the funeral home at 9 a.m. Monday to process to the cemetery. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Moline.
The former Mary Ellen Reynolds was born November 3, 1914, in Laomi, Illinois, the daughter of Lee and Bessie (Fields) Reynolds. She graduated from Augustana College. She married Carl D. Colburn on May 5, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa. He died May 20, 2003. She was First Grade Teacher at Maple Grove School in Moline for 24 years, retiring in 1974.
She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Moline, for over 60 years, and was a member of King?s Daughters and Retired Teachers Association. Following their retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively in the United States and Canada. She was an avid reader and enjoyed flower gardening, birds, and wildlife.
Mary is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gary and Lori Colburn of Avondale, Arizona, and Kent Colburn of Deerfield Beach, Florida; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, one brother, and one half-brother.
