Duane F. Martin

Duane F. Martin, 85, a life-long resident of Milan, Illinois, died Wednesday, June 10, 2009, in Avonlea Cottage, Milan, Illinois.

Services are 11 a.m. Saturday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Cindy Rettig officiating. Burial is in Western Township Cemetery, Orion. Visitation is 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

Duane Forest Martin was born September 3, 1923, in Rock Island, the son of Wilbur and Celia (McCaw) Martin. He married Moneta Morrison on March 1, 1947, in Coal Valley, Illinois. He farmed his own farms in the Rock Island County area his entire life.

He was a former member of the Rock Island County Farm Bureau and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling.

Duane is survived by his wife of 62 years, Moneta; a daughter and son-in-law, Rita and Cromwell Bowen of Orion; and grandchildren, David Bowen and Danielle Gorbach and her husband Sasha.
