Douglas K. Grubbs, 61, of Moline, Illinois, died unexpectedly on arrival at UnityPoint Health - Trinity Moline on Friday, September 21, 2018.

A hospitality gathering with food and beverages to celebrate Doug's life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2018, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home, Moline. Private entombment will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Douglas Grubbs Memorial Fund which will be established for music education.

Douglas Keith Grubbs was born September 1, 1957, in Moline, to Gerald and Shirley (Jennings) Grubbs. He served in the U. S. Army and had been an equipment installer at the Rock Island Arsenal for 38 years. He married Teresa Mayers Long on December 21, 2012, in Moline. He loved music, playing guitar and drums, and riding his Harley. He was a hugger, and enjoyed reading and watching birds from his deck.

Doug is survived by his wife, Teresa; children and spouses, Sandra and Steven Rease of Genoa, Illinois, and Justin and Wendy Grubbs of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Logan Grubbs and Kaitlyn, Kailee and Madison Rease; step-children and fiancées, Chad Long and Candace Martin of West Bend, Wisconsin, Nolan Long and Ashley of Peoria, Illinois, and Alexandra Long and Jared Grassberger of Centennial, Colorado; step-grandchildren, Chase, Jordan and Nevaeh Long, and Jason Grassberger; siblings and spouses, Fred "Bud" and Angela Grubbs, Deborah Grubbs-Yost, and Jeff and Kris Baines; his step-mother, Sharon Grubbs of Davenport, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Lois Mayers of Bettendorf, Iowa; and Teresa's siblings and spouses, Jeff and Denise Mayers, Julie and Matt Joeckle, Kevin and Diane Mayers, and John and Vicky Mayers.
