Dorothy L. Hooven, 91, of Milan, Illinois, died Friday, December 23, 2005, in Pathway Hospice at Trinity at Terrace Park Medical Center, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Private family services will be held at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
The former Dorothy Lavonia Schmook was born August 24, 1914, in Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Christie and Gertrude (Carley) Schmook. She married Louis E. Wood in 1931. She married John Robert Hooven on April 14, 1937. He died in 1962. She was a cosmetician at Schlegel?s Drug Store for several years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of Union Congregational Church, Moline, and an avid reader.
Dorothy is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Charles L. Sr. and Joann Wood of Galena, Illinois, Marc E. and Jeannette Wood of Irma, Wisconsin, Richard R. Hooven of Oak Brook, Illinois, and James A. and Rhonda Hooven of Roanoke, Virginia; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a brother, Delbert Schmook of Rock Island.
