Dorothy H. Byrd

Dorothy Byrd, 90, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, May 14, 2022, in her home.

Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with Fr. Mark DeSutter officiating. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is Noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday. Friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following the burial. Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline.

The former Dorothy Helene McLeod was born December 20, 1931, in St. Ignace, Michigan, to Philip and Josephine (Desjardin) McLeod. She married John Byrd in 1952, in Kewanee, and they were later divorced. She was an accountant at the Rock Island Arsenal for 18 years, retiring in1997. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline, where she sang in the choir, and enjoyed sewing, crafts, photography, gardening and reading.

Dorothy is survived by five children and their spouses, Jeanine and Allen Cagle of East Moline, Ellen and Tim Keith of Moline, Russell and Shana Byrd of Hampton, John and Tammie Byrd of Richmond, Indiana, and Paul and Tammy Byrd of Silvis; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great grandchildren; and two brothers, Bernard McLeod and Francis McLeod, both of Michigan. She was preceded in death by a daughter in infancy, a grandson, and four siblings.
