Dora M. Greenwood

Aledo, Illinois Dora M. Greenwood, 95, of Aledo, formerly of Alexis, died Tuesday, October 29, 2002 at the Mercer County Nursing Home. Graveside services will be Thursday at 10:30 AM at the Alexis Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Mercer County Nursing Home. Trimble Funeral Home, Aledo is in charge of arrangements. Dora was born on April 13, 1907 in Alexis, Illinois to Walter and Nina (Meeker) Wixon. She was a graduate of the Alexis High School. She married Cecil L. Greenwood on September 7, 1926 in Peoria, Illinois. Dora farmed with her husband in Suez Township, Mercer County, Illinois and was a member of the Mercer County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers; reading; many crafts, particularly, ceramics, crocheting and embroidery. She also attended the neighborhood ladies club. Dora is survived by her husband of 76 years, Cecil; a sister-in-law, Frances Hebbeln of Monmouth; nephews: John P. Wixon and his wife, Daphne of Milford, IL and Vincent Hebbeln of Monmouth and numerous nieces and nephews in Washington state and Illinois. Dora was preceded in death by three brothers.
