Donald R. Bryan, 67, of Moline, Illinois, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at University Hospitals, Iowa City, Iowa.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, with The Reverend Larry Conway officiating. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory and burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where Moline American Legion Post #246, will present military honors. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Honor Flight of the Quad Cities.

Donald Ray Bryan was born in Princeton, Missouri, to Buford and Helen (Snyder) Bryan. He married Vicki Miles on July 26, 1969, in Washington, Iowa. He served in the U. S. Army's 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam. He then served 18 years in the Iowa National Guard with the HHC 65th Engr. BN, and later in the Army Reserves. He owned and operated Bryan Tap Cleaning Service for 20 years, and also worked for John Deere, American Air Filter, and Walmart.

Don loved his God and his country, and was a life member of the VFW, past president of the Moline American Legion, and a member of the Milan American Legion, Silvis Frateral Order of Eagles, and Vietnam Veterans of America. In addition to being a good husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many, Don was a story teller and jokester, who loved to make people laugh. Growing up on the family farm, he was a handyman and woodworker. He was a Civil War buff and reader, and an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Don is survived by his wife, Vicki; two daughters, Teri Guertler and her husband Tom, and Cindy Bryan and her fiancé Chris Comp; six grandchildren, Hannah, Reagan, and Owen Guertler, and Bryan, Elizabeth, and Emily Comp; a great-granddaughter, Ashlynn VenHorst; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Ronald and Cheri Bryan of Princeton, Missouri, and Jo Ann Bryan of Aurora, Colorado; and his best buddy, Joe Masa of Guam. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Larry Bryan.
