Dolores R. Johnston, 92, of Preemption, Illinois, died Friday, October 26, 2012, in Trinity Rock Island, Rock Island, Illinois.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Thursday, November 1, 2012, in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley, with The Reverend Cindy Rettig officiating. Burial is in German Cemetery, Sherrard, Illinois. Visitation is 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Preemption United Methodist Church.
The former Dolores Rosine Zwicker was born December 23, 1919, in Mercer County, Illinois, the daughter of Fred and Frances Schurr Zwicker. She married Haines R. Johnston on August 30, 1940, in Davenport, Iowa. He died April 1, 2002. She was a member of Preemption United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women of the church, and Eastern Star, and enjoyed collecting recipes.
Dolores is survived by her son, Howard Johnston of Preemption; her brother and sister-in-law, Duane and Shirley Zwicker of Sherrard; and a niece and her husband, Julie Ann and Steve Hood of Sherrard.
