Dennis L. Marion, 68, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, September 7, 2015, at home.

There will be no public services. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, with burial in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, at a later date. Memorials may be made to one's favorite charity. Trimble Funeral Home & Crematory, Moline, is serving the family.

Dennis was born August 19, 1947, in Hedrick, Iowa, the son of Harold and Wilma (Ackley) Marion. He served in the U.S. Army for three years, and married Laura Morford on September 6, 1967, in Moline.

He retired as a Senior Internal Consultant for John Deere Harvester Works, East Moline, Illinois. During his years with the company, he worked as a production welder and union official, retiring in 2001. After retirement, he owned and operated Marion & Associates, a labor management consulting firm, and Marion Motor Sports.

Dennis was a member of UAW Local 865. He was a past president and board member of ILLOWA chapter of AQP (Association for Quality and Participation), and CEO of the Quad City Labor Management Council. He raced stock cars and go-carts for many years. Above all else, he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Laura, of Moline; children and their spouses, Shannon and Guy Morse of Colona, Nicole and Mike Melody of Rock Island, and Dennis Marion of Moline; six grandchildren, Dalton and Elizabeth Morse, Mackenzie and Hunter Melody, and Dennis Zachary and Riley Marion; and a sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Wiley Graham of Rapids City, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Denise McCubbin.
