David C. Hasselberg, 81, of Davenport, Iowa, died Thursday, March 29, 2012, in Manor Care Utica Ridge, Davenport.
Services are 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Wilfred L. Karsten officiating. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, with the Moline American Legion Post #246 presenting military honors. Memorials may be made to the church.
David Carl Hasselberg was born April 20, 1930, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Carl G. and Florence (Garrison) Hasselberg. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Wilma Esther Herrala on August 23, 1952, in Greenville, South Carolina.
David worked as a Lithographer for the Desaulniers Printing Company, Bawden Brothers Printing Company, and Lindsay Industries, retiring in 1992.
He was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Moline, the Scott County Family YMCA, the Plus-60 Club, and the Eastern Iowa Polka Club. He enjoyed dancing, crosswords, coin collecting, and was an avid baseball and Cubs fan.
David is survived by sons, Stanley and Matthew Hasselberg, of Davenport, and a sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Rodney Cook of Racine, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma, and a son, Martin Hasselberg.
