David B. Carlson, 76, of East Moline, Illinois, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois, died Tuesday, December 18, 2018, at his home at Park Vista in East Moline.

A hospitality gathering to celebrate David's life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019, at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Cremation took place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral home. Memorials may be made to Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan.

David Bernard Carlson was born February 19, 1942, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Earnest and Gertrude (Sivertsen) Carlson. He married Karen "Kay" Isbell on December 28, 1969, in Moline. She died on November 17, 2014.

David taught in the Moline School District, mostly as a 6th grade teacher at Washington Elementary School, retiring in 1992.

He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Rock Island, the Quad Cities In-Fisherman Club, and the Moline Second Alarmers. He enjoyed fishing, traveling and camping, and raced drag cars in his younger years.

David is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Doug and Elaine Carlson of Enumclaw, Washington; a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah and Dennis Driscoll of Des Moines, Washington; two grandchildren, Alexandria Harrington of Enumclaw, and Jack Driscoll of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Kay Carlson.
