Darlene J. Patterson, 81, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, May 9, 2011, in Heartland Health Care Center, Moline.

Services are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church, Moline, with The Reverend Dr. Mark Gehrke officiating. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline. Memorials may be made to the church or Alzheimer?s Association.

The former Darlene June Anderson was born November 15, 1929, in Rock Falls, Illinois, the daughter of Paul Elmer and Mabelle Jacobs Anderson. She graduated from Moline High School in 1947, and was Miss Moline in 1950, and took second place in the Miss Illinois Pageant that year. She married David C. Patterson on July 19, 1951, in East Moline. She had been a secretary at Desaulniers Printing.

She was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of Ruth Circle. She was a fantastic wife, mom and grandma, a fabulous cook, and an accomplished artist.

Darlene is survived by her husband David; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffery and Sheri Patterson of Moline, and Jon Patterson and Dr. Valerie Prajka of Appleton, Wisconsin; six grandchildren, Michael Patterson and his wife Laurie, Brian Patterson, Jennifer Patterson, Brittany Patterson, Daniel Patterson, and Katlyn Patterson; sisters, Frances Tucker of Wyoming, Maryland, and Marilyn Ella of Lompoc, California; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Larry and Leslie Anderson of Thousand Oaks, California, Keith and Ralene Anderson of North Hollywood, California, and Joyce Anderson of Apple Valley, California. She was preceded in death by a sister Jeanine Anderson, and brothers. Kendall and Vernon Anderson.
