Dan "Dead" Thompson, 67, of Moline, Illinois, died Monday, December 4, 2017, at the VA Medical Center - Minneapolis, Minnesota, after a long, hard-fought battle with cancer.
A hospitality gathering will be held from 4:00 to 5:00p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017, in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. A memorial service will follow at 5:00 p.m. with The Rev. Stanley Evans officiating. Cremation has taken place. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Danny L. Thompson was born December 28, 1949, in Moline, Illinois, the son of Burdette and Kathleen (Danley) Thompson. He was a graduate of Highland Park High School in Highland Park, Illinois. He attended Central Methodist University and Southern Illinois University and served in the US Army during the Vietnam War stationed in Germany. He held many jobs, and was a member of the Teamsters Union. Dan loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, listening to music, spending time with his friends, and participating in toy runs. He will be remembered for many things, but best for his kind heart and love for his friends and family.
He is survived by his love, Rebecca Bolwar, "imaginary" daughter, Cassandra Langhammer, and her fiance Chris Sanders of Davenport, Iowa; his sister, Sandy (Thompson) Polarek and her husband Melvin Polarek of Green Bay, Wisconsin; and a niece, Nicole Polarek and her husband Jason Ferry, and their two sons. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Burdette and Kathleen Thompson. Dan leaves behind many friends who are also considered his family.
