Daniel W. Ferguson

August 7, 1937 — June 25, 2016

Daniel Wesley Ferguson, 78, of Erie, Illinois, passed away at home on June 25, 2016, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with liver disease.

A celebration of Daniel's life will be private, with immediate family only. The family is very grateful for everyone's thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Cremation will take place at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of the Cremation Society of the Quad Cities.

Daniel was born August 7, 1937, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, the son of Peter and Mabel (Norgren) Ferguson. He married Patricia Ann Karns on May 26, 1968, in Malden, Illinois.

He worked for many years as a welder, and also built many houses.

He was a member of the Perry Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Perry, Florida. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family.

Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, Pat; children, Kathy and Brian DeWitte of Erie, Scott Ferguson of Spring Valley, Illinois, Karen and Todd Byers of Camanche, Iowa, and Sandra and Ron Parry of Memphis, Tennessee; and one sister. His grandchildren include Ashlie Ferguson DeWitte, Breanna DeWitte, Cody DeWitte, Sheila Ferguson, Donny Reul, Stephanie Reul, Morgan Reul, Layne Byers, Grace McNatt, and Brent Robinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.

The family would like to thank Dr. Kyle Brown and her office staff at the University of Iowa for the excellent care given to Daniel during the last three years.
