Clifford A. Countryman, 76, of Moline died peacefully at home on Friday, September 12, 2003, after his year long battle with bone cancer. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 15th at 1:00 PM at Trimble Funeral Home in Moline, Elder Paul Lindburg will officiating. Visitation will be today from 4:00 to 6:00 PM. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. The family request that memorials may be made to GILDA'S Club Quad Cities 1234 River Drive, Davenport, Iowa 52803. Clifford Arthur Countryman was born September 29, 1926 in Douds, Iowa, the son of the late Jesse Clyde Countryman and the late Edith (Bonar) Countryman. He married the former Earlene Heston of Fairfield, Iowa on October 12, 1947 at Elim Covenant Church in Moline, Illinois. Cliff was employed for 15 years at the former Morrison & Bergren IGA, Moline, and at John Deere Plow and Planter Works, Moline, for 25 years He was an avid racing fan, having attended races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway for over 30 years. He enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, playing cards, going to Moline High School Boys' basketball games, and all his children and grandchildren's activities. He took great pride in helping his family and friends. He was active until the very end, playing in bowling leagues and maintaining his numerous rental properties. He was the "glue" to the Countryman family and his "earthly" presence will be sorely missed. His family takes comfort in his belief of Jesus Christ as his personal savior. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all those he touched. Cliff is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Earlene Countryman; two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda and Frank Dexter of Moline, and Julie Countryman of Moline; three sons and daughters-in-law, Denny and Bonnie Countryman of Dixon, Illinois, Jim and Tracy Countryman of Moline, and Jeff and Traci Countryman of Iowa City, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Tim and Mike Countryman, Kelly and Ryan Dexter, Nick and Mike Micka, Bailey, Corbin, and Karsyn Countryman; three sisters, Louise and Hubert Hoskins of Pleasant Plains, Iowa, Maxine and Max Wolf of Freemont, Iowa, and Donna and Melvin Story of Birmingham, Iowa; and a brother, Dean and Joyce Countryman of Fairfield, Iowa. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale and Veryl Countryman.
