Chester Butts

December 21, 1917 — August 12, 2003

Moline, Illinois Chester D. Butts, 85, formerly of Moline, joined the Lord after a lengthy battle with cancer. He died Tuesday, August 12, 2003, in Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley. Private family services will be held. He was born December 21, 1917, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of William and Cora (Case) Butts. He married Dolleen Rose Bryant, who preceded him in death. He was a Deacon and Elder for First Christian Church, East Moline, and a member of Silvis Lodge #898, AF & AM, and Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Moline. He enjoyed writing communion prayers as well as other poetry. One poem, entitled "A Boy's Vision of Summer," was published in a book by the National Poetry Association. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah Kay and William Hill of Colona; a nephew and his wife, Thomas and Melanie Butts of Peoria; a niece, Norma Weise of Durant, Iowa; several grandchildren; and a special friend, Janet Drobner of East Moline.
