Carole A. Poppy, 70, of Moline, Illinois, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, September 18, 2012, surrounded by her family.
Carole?s family will host a celebration of her life from Noon to 7 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2012, at the home of Betty and Dale Kruse, 1622 11th Street, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carole Poppy Memorial Fund. The family is being served by Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline.
Carole Ann Redmann was born February 4, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Lyle Homer and Florence Belle Miller Redmann. She graduated from Orion High School, and married Russell D. Poppy on June 29, 1962, in Geneseo. In earlier years, she was a certified nursing assistant and did private duty nursing. In later years, she spent her time volunteering, most recently at Ridgecrest Retirement Village. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, and one of the first members of Gilda?s Club. She enjoyed bowling, gardening, and crocheting, and loved being with her grandkids and loved people.
Carole is survived by her husband, Russell; five daughters and their husbands, Anna and David Loncarich of Bettendorf, Iowa, Andrea and Julius ?J? Perez of Davenport, Iowa, Lori and Chris Herr of Colona, Illinois, Barbra and Brad Harker of Hampton, Illinois, and Susan and Rick Shaffer of Port Byron, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Sarah Perez, Zachary and Justin Lorenson, Phoenix and Jeffery Herr, Kristen and Ryan Harker, and Andrew Poppy; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a granddaughter, Sasha Perez, and a brother, James Redmann.
