New Boston, Illinois Carol Grace Swiger, age 80, of New Boston, Illinois, left the loving arms of her family and friends on earth and was received in the arms of those who preceded her in death on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at her home in New Boston. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the New Boston United Methodist Church where she was a member, with the Reverend Richard Bishop officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Trimble Funeral Home in Aledo. Burial will be in the New Boston Cemetery; memorials may be given to the church or to the New Boston Fire and Ambulance Service. The Former Carol Grace Ferguson was born December 25, 1922 in South Dakota the daughter of Charles and Neva (Fuller) Ferguson. She married Harry Junior Swiger on February 3, 1946 in New Boston, in a double ceremony in which her brother Herb Ferguson married Harry's sister Eloise "Molly" Swiger. She was employed at Well's Lamont Glove Factory, and had owned and operated the New Boston Café, and retired from Eagle Signal Corporation in 1984 after 34 years. After she retired she cared for her husband for many years whom had been diagnosed with Lymphoma and Bladder Cancer, and had been the caregiver for her brother Herb and her sister-in-law, Molly. Carol was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in October of 2001. Carol loved animals, often quoting, "they love me, no matter what I do, say, or look like". She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Many times people would slow down to admire her iris garden, when it was in full bloom. Most of all she enjoyed the comfort of her home, and said that it wraps its arms around her and would make her feel safe and secure. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Judy Swiger of Aledo, Illinois; two daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Scott Oak of Carpentersville, Illinois, and Natalie Thompson Giles and her husband Doug New Boston; eleven grandchildren; and a great-grandson; and one great-grandchild that is on the way. She was preceded in death by husband Harry in 2000; three brothers, Delbert "Deb", Willard "Chuck", and Herb Ferguson, and a sister, Muriel Sloan.
