Carol D. Lawson

Carol D. Lawson, 92, of Moline, Illinois, died Saturday, October 14, 2017, in her home at Heritage Woods.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 1307 17th Avenue, Moline, with Msgr. Dale Wellman celebrating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline. Memorials may be made to the Multiple Myeloma or Diabetes Foundations. Friends are invited to join the family at a funeral luncheon at CityView Celebrations at Trimble Pointe following the burial.

The former Carol Darlene Hauerwas was born December 7, 1924, in Rock Island, Illinois to Willard and Marion Johnson Hauerwas. She married James David Lawson on January 24, 1942, in Kahoka, Missouri. He died October 9, 1993. She worked at John Deere during WW II, and later worked at Oscar Meyer. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, and enjoyed painting and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Carol is survived by two children and their spouses, Bill and Berlinda Lawson of Belen, New Mexico, and Carolyn and Mike VanDeVelde of Moline; seven grandchildren and spouses, Sonia Lawson, Geoff and Lisa Lawson, Bradley Lawson, Kimberly and Steve Dillender, John and Mary Kay VanDeVelde, Christopher Lawson and Matthew Lawson; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; a son, James Jr. "Jimmy" Lawson; a sister, Dorothy Onderbeck; and brother, Ralph and Dale Hauerwas.
