Calvin C. Wadsworth, 82, of Davenport, Iowa, died Friday, March 16, 2007, in Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport.
Services are 10:30 a.m. Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley. Burial is in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society in either Scott or Rock Island County, Iowa Public Television, or University of Dubuque.
Calvin Coolidge Wadsworth was born August 19, 1924, in Coal Valley Township, Rock Island County, Illinois, the son of Thomas Logan and Susan B. (Doonan) Wadsworth. He graduated from Coal Valley High School and the University of Dubuque. He married Lucille Elizabeth Rochau on June 18, 1955, in Davenport.
He farmed his own farms in Rock Island and Scott Counties most of his life, and was employed as a chemist by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on the Rock Island Arsenal and in Territorial Sales for John Deere. He was a member of the Democratic Party, and loved his family and his pets, and enjoyed gardening, farming, politics, horse racing and visiting with people.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Lucille; six children and their spouses, James and Ellen Wadsworth of Davenport, Sally Frotscher of Farnhamville, Iowa, Susan and Jerry Stoefen of Davenport, Joan and David Claussen of Davenport, John Wadsworth of Custer Park, Illinois, and Julie Link of Davenport; five grandchildren, Jacob and Matthew Stoefen, Benjamin and Nicole Frotscher, and Abigail Link; two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Joie Stoefen; seven step-grandchildren, Melissa Marr, Todd, Matthew, Anthony, Kim, and Kyle Maginn, and Rachel Garmany; and ten step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Kent Frotscher, a sister, Lenoris Zwicker, and a brother, Thomas Wadsworth.
