Byrl G. Cousins, 81, of East Moline, died, Friday, January 21, 2005 at Parkview Terrace, East Moline. Services are 11:00 AM Monday in the Celebration of Life Chapel at Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Coal Valley with military honors by the Moline American Legion, Post 246. Masonic services will be Sunday at 2:00 PM with visitation following until 6:00 PM at the funeral Home. Private burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island. Byrl G. Cousins was born, December 7, 1923 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Byrl G. and Mildred (Wylie) Cousins. He married the former Joan Mummert on November 9, 1958 in Moline. Byrl served in the U.S. Army 553 Engineering Boat & Shore Regiment during World War II. Byrl was employed as a meat manager for Eagle Foods, then owned and operated Angelo's Pizza and Country Cousins Dairy Bar & Grill in Coal Valley. He later worked as a security guard for PerMar and United Medical Center. He then worked as a courier for Metro Labs.
Byrl was a member of the Moline American Legion, Post 246, Valley Lodge # 547 A.F. & A.M., Coal Valley, and the Sportsman's Club in Coal Valley. He enjoyed fishing, and coffee in the mornings with his friends at the Lucky 8 in Coal Valley. Survivors include his wife Joan of East Moline, two daughters, Linda and Carl Glover, Denver, CO, Barbara Cousins and Gary Moser of Lakewood, CO, three grandchildren, David, Angela, and Tifany, three great-grandchildren, Allison, Jacob, and Abigale, a sister and brother-in-law, MaryJo and Bernard Oltman, Burlington, IA, a brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Judy Cousins, West Burlington, IA, and several nieces and nephews. 3 brothers, and 1 sister preceded him in death.
