Billy D. Dial, 79, of Geneseo, Illinois, died Monday, March 24, 2014, in Hammond-Henry Hospital, Geneseo.

According to his wishes, there will be no public services. Memorials may be made to the Lions Clubs or Helping Hands in Geneseo. Trimble Funeral and Cremation Center, Moline, is assisting the family.

Billy Dean Dial was born June 25, 1934, in Moweaqua, Illinois, the son of Floyd and Evylyn (Rodman) Dial. He married Olive Johnson and the couple was later divorced. He later married Jill Iris Rumsey Sedlacek on November 12, 1964, in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Bill received his Master's Degree from Northern Illinois University, and worked as a Special Education Administrator and teacher in the Rock Island School District, retiring in 1983.

He was a life-member and very active in the Geneseo Lions Club and the American Speech and Hearing Association. He enjoyed reading, sports of all kinds, and competed with Labrador Retrievers in field trials.

Bill is survived by his wife, Jill Dial of Geneseo; three sons, John (Beverly) Dial of Woodstock, Illinois, Mark Dial of Geneseo, and David (Sue) Dial of Monticello, Wisconsin; a step-son, Frank Sedlacek of Cary, Illinois; step-grandchildren, Ali, MaxRoy, Nikki, and Eric Sedlacek; a great-grandson, Skylor Sokoloski; and siblings, Jim (Nadine) Dial of Moweaqua, Gloria Jean (Denny) Durbin of Decatur, Illinois, and Catherine Hudson of Tower Hill, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack Dial, and a step-son, Terry Sedlacek.
