Coal Valley, Illinois Services for Betty R. Miller, 74, of Coal Valley, are 10 a.m. Saturday at Trimble Funeral Home, Coal Valley, with Rev. George White, St. John's United Methodist Church, Davenport, Iowa, officiating. Burial is in Coal Valley Cemetery. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mississippi Valley Chapter of Alzheimer's Association. Mrs. Miller died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Trinity Medical Center, Rock Island. The former Betty Ruth Fanis was born August 6, 1928, in Wilder, Virginia, the daughter of Nicholas and Gladys (Puckett) Fanis. She married Charles R. Miller on September 19, 1953, in Rockford, Illinois. She was a nurses aide at Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley, for eight years. Earlier, while living in Rockford, she worked at National Lock Company for several years. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Betty is survived by her husband, Charles; three children and their spouses, Mike and Violet Miller of Bruner, Missouri, Becky and Al Stouffer of Davenport, Iowa, and Charles (Bob) and Caren Miller of Newburg, Wisconsin; four grandchildren, Ashley and Nick Stouffer of Davenport and Courtney and Kevin Miller of Newburg; four sisters and bothers-in-law, Marie Jeffers and Helen and Jim Holmes of Kingsport, Tennessee, Dorothy and Kenneth Sykes of Bristol, Virginia, and Wilma Mutter of Abingdon, Virginia; and two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Thomas and Carol Fanis of Rockford, Richard and Judy Fanis of Abingdon, Virginia, Genny Hanson of Rockford, and Jeannie Fanis of Janesville, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Justin Miller, and four brothers, James, George, Bill and Robert Fanis.
