Bennie A. Terronez

November 12, 1927 — March 13, 2023

Bennie A. Terronez, 95 , of Moline, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2023, at his home.


A visitation will be held in the Horizon Room at Trimble Funeral Home at Trimble Pointe, 701 12th Street, Moline, on Friday, March 17 from 5-7pm with a Rosary to be recited at 4:30. A Mass of Christian Burial is 11am, Saturday, March 18, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Moline, where he was a member for 70 years and served as an usher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Church, Moline.


He was born November 12, 1927, in Silvis, the son of Benito and Feliza Anguiano Terronez. He married Belen Lopez on May 3rd, 1947, in Moline. They were married for 73 years prior to her death on January 18, 2021. She was the love of his life and together they raised five children.


Bennie was a community activist, volunteering and serving on boards including Tri-County Workforce Investment, Habitat for Humanity, Viva QC, Sylvan Island Dreamers, Floriciente Neighborhood Assn, City of Moline Zoning Board, Boys and Girls Club and QC Police Citizen Academy Training. He also founded the Moline Community Centre. He coached basketball at St. Mary’s School, Moline for many years and mentored many youths. He was a 3 star athlete in High School and was inducted into the UTHS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. He retired from John Deere after 34 years and had served as a Union steward. He dedicated much of his life to help make his neighborhood better.


Survivors include his daughters, Cynthia (Rodolfo) Colino, Louisa (Kerry) Ewert; Sons, Mario Terronez, Steven (Barbara) Terronez; 14 grandchildren, Michelle, Dianna, James, Dave, Tony, Heather, Sara, Jenny, Mary, Ann, Omelia, Nick, Cassie and Alex; 30 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters, Nellie Muños and Dolores Esparza; a sister-in-law, Naum Mier; and many nieces, nephews, cousins; and Denise Terronez for helping out over the years.


He is reunited in Heaven now with his wife, Belen; son Timothy; parents; and his siblings, Theresa Sierra, Gabriela Moreno, Jessie Vallejo, Mary Medina, Joe Terronez, Alvino Terronez, Cruz Cervantes, Antonia Perez, Angela Ayala and Guadalupe Terronez (as well as their spouses) along with infant sister Exigia Terronez.
